While you, the parent, leave the decorating up to the child, it is important to child-proof it for safety. Make sure that all the things to be placed in the child’s bedroom are child-friendly.  Spending time to look for the main items, such as the bed, the curtains, and the ceiling fans, will help create a bond between the parents and the child.  Ask your child to participate in the decision-making. Ask them questions on what color to use and what style of furniture to buy. A good trick is to let them choose between two alternatives that you already agree with. This will make your child feel like it is their decision and in turn, they will like their room better.

Some great ways to add personal touches to a bedroom include attaching some drawings or paintings made by the child on a wall.  For extraordinary works, framing them and displaying them could be a great idea.
